Iran film ‘Drum’ wins jury prize at German filmfest

Iranian film ‘Drum’ wins prize at International Visionary Film Festival in the German capital city of Berlin.

Iranian film ‘Drum’ directed by Keywan Karimi has brought home the Special Jury Award at International Visionary Film Festival in the German capital city of Berlin.

Karimi’s feature film was screened in the competition section of the five-day International Visionary Film Festival, which was held in Berlin and ended earlier this month.

‘Drum’ tells the story of a lawyer in the Iranian capital city of Tehran, who lives alone and works from his apartment. One cold and rainy day, a man walks into his apartment, speaks to him shortly and confusingly, and then hands him a package that completely changes his life.

The Iranian feature film was accepted in the competition section of the Critic’s Week of the 73rd Venice International Film Festival last year. It has also competed in several other film festivals, including the Napoli Film Festival in Italy.

The film is shot in black and white, with a dreamlike atmosphere, and the characters have no names.
